Democrats Fail: No Plan for Tyranny?
On the latest episode democracyish LIVE Danielle and Wajahat Ali state that authoritarianism isn't coming--it's here. So, now what will Americans do next?
The warnings are over. This isn’t theoretical. This isn’t academic. This is authoritarianism in real time. And Trump is not hiding it—he’s staging it. His allies, like Stephen Miller and MAGA extremists, aren’t subtle in their bloodlust for violent conflict. We've seen how provocateurs—white supremacists, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers—embed themselves in movements only to spark chaos. Their aim is not just disorder; it’s justification. One thrown object. One smashed window. One “incident”—real or staged—and the crackdown begins.
We’ve seen this before. In 2020, Trump ordered Lafayette Square cleared with tear gas and rubber bullets so he could pose with a Bible he didn't read. When he asked if his military could “shoot protesters in the leg,” it was not a joke. It was a test balloon. His infamous line, “When the looting starts, the shooting starts,” wasn’t just rhetoric—it was a policy preview.
Now, in 2025, the evidence is overwhelming: Trump isn’t just running for office. He’s trying to seize the state.
The Problem With Democrats
And still, Democrats—Jeffries, Schumer and the Establishment “moderate” circle—are responding with platitudes, committee talk, and "measured tone." In the face of unprecedented lawlessness and abuse of power, their instinct is still to manage, not resist.
Hakeem Jeffries' response to the arrest of Senator Padilla and the ransacking of congressional offices? A bureaucratic murmur: “We’ll respond in a time and place of our choosing.” Translation: stall, strategize, poll-test.
This is not a moment for slow-footed consensus-building. It is a moment for moral clarity, civil courage, and an unapologetic stance against fascism.
The same Democratic infrastructure that excels at fundraising emails and soft-focus campaign videos is simply not equipped to combat a fascist insurgency from within the state. “They're not built for this,” as Wajahat Ali put it. And he’s right. This party was built for negotiations, not insurrections.
A Call to Unshackle Ourselves
There is no law and order when the law is weaponized and the order is fascist. There is no civility when your rights are trampled under tanks. And there is no middle ground between freedom and authoritarianism. You either fight for democracy—or you lose it.
If the Democrats won't rise to the moment, the people will. The No Kings March is not a partisan act. It’s a reclamation of American dignity. It's the recognition that this country was never supposed to crown kings—especially not ones wrapped in flags and surrounded by troops.
This is a crisis of courage. And every delay is a betrayal.
The question isn’t when Democrats will act.
The question is: Will they act at all?
Because the clock is ticking. And silence, at this point, is complicity.

So tired of the "Democrats aren't doing anything" and "Dems in disarray" refrain. Here are a few off the top of my head who have spoken out forcefully on various topics to wide platforms or in committee hearings in the past 36 hours:
Senator Padilla
Governor Newsom
Governor Pritzker
Governor Walz
Governor Hochul
Senator Warren
Rep. AOC
Rep. Vindman
Rep. McIver
Please write about these instances, spread them far and wide, and write more about how we can regain the youth vote.
They never act. The time would have been Trump's first term. When he became a domestic terrorist. When he repeatedly broke his oath of office. The oath is meaningless. The Democrats sre a joke when the vhips are down. We've built a society for peaceful protest. The autocrats look at peaceful protest and laugh. Strong men only respect strong man tactics. But we've taken the power away from the people and the autocrats have seized the rest. Congrats on not doing anything the right way when we had the chance. Have fun watching our country burn, at djt's hands
