AI, Autocracy and the Coming Resource War!

We're living through the rise of autocracy; but the people still have power--we need a general strike NOW!
18

On today’s episode of The Check-In with Jared and Danielle, we explored what it means to live in a time when multiple truths—and multiple emotions—collide every single day. As American democracy erodes before our eyes, we are forced to hold grief, rage, fatigue, and determination all at once. The rise of American autocracy is no longer a distant threat. It is here, and it is tightening its grip.

The recent No Kings protest reminded us that collective action is still possible. People across the country took to the streets to resist a regime built on cruelty, control, and endless profit. But protest alone is not enough. If we truly want to stop the machinery of fascism and extractive capitalism, we need to disrupt its function at every level. That means organizing a general strike—the kind of coordinated mass action that halts business as usual and forces a reckoning.

Throughout our conversation, we also touched on a looming crisis many aren’t prepared to name: the AI-driven world war already taking shape. Like past wars, this one is about resources and domination. But today’s battle isn’t just for oil or land—it’s for the minerals and data that power artificial intelligence. These resources are extracted at great human cost, often from the Global South, and fed into a system designed not to serve humanity, but to profit from it.

This future is not set in stone. But if we want to change its course, we must act now—with clarity, courage, and collective purpose.
