America has been the villian in the story of a lot of countries but that's not something Americans are ready to wrestle with. This country still believes the myth that they are the calvary.

We're in an existential moment. It's amazing to me that so many are willfully blind to this. We have to be willing to die because they're killing us anyway.

It is a Death March from Michigan to Iran to Ukraine to Gaza to anywhere in the world. Un-visioned people. It's the plastics in the air and water and blood;) in every human being in the world.

Those who understand what is at stake must decide to risk our own well being to push back against those who threaten the existence of humanity. To continue to only use words is guaranteed failure. Action is needed — and very, very soon.

Preach it Jared! Too True! We (humans) have relatively no memory, no honor, no shame. So we spend most of our time circling the drain! They won't stop. Dr. Strangelove is heading to the button.

Ya know, all those death cults in the late 20th century and early 21st missed the really horrible stuff. Makes one wonder how many are percolating at this moment.

900 thousand tons of steel headin' down the track!

Jared, your diagnosis/understanding of our national and world dystopia is brilliant! We need you and smart, insightful people like you in leadership.

We, who are not entirely asleep yet, need a leader. We don't have one.

You guys have the best overall understanding of this worldwide and national sleepwalking into impending disaster.

This whole fucked up sociopathic spiral into fascism and war is based on emotions of fear and insecurity.

Jared, I've written this comment before. You often say, "Everybody knows it." That simply isn't true. Many thoughtful people know it, but most Americans are not really very thoughtful. You emphasized the selfishness of Americans and I totolly agree. But that means if they are thinking about anything, it is themselves. And if things are working for them, and it would take real effort to think about what they would have to do to make a difference that they don't think they need, they won't bother. Apathy is married to selfishness for many Americans. If the US colonies had been populated by average Americans of today, I wonder if the Revolutionary War would have been successful.

Finally, everybody does not know that "we are there" as you (Jared) said. They aren't even thinking about it until their own lives suffer, and then their selfishness pushes many to look to someone like Trump for salvation. That is where apathy is replaced by utter stupidity.

Jared speaks about the innocent lives lost. I just read a comment on the New York Times that emphasized how many Israeli and American lives would be lost in a war with Iraq, but not a single word about the many more deaths that would occur in Iran itself. That is typical of the limited thinking of most Americans.

Danielle there is a good reason for not wanting any additional countries to have nuclear weapons. However, why does Iran want to have them. It seems obvious that they want them for the same reason North Korea wants them and decades ago the USSR acquired them. They know that if they have nuclear weapons they will be vastly, if not completely, less likely to be attacked. That would be called rational thinking.

I don't actually think that the reason we are opposed to Iran having nukes is because they are brown people. I think that is the case because when any other country gets nuclear weapons it limits our ability to control or threaten them. That doesn't mean I don't think racism is an element of American foreign policy, but I don't think that the US wants anyone to have nukes but us. However, we wouldn't object so much to Britain or France getting them (both of whom also probably wanted nukes for the same reason I mentioned above) since we expect them to be on our side in a war with the USSR (in the past), Russia, or China today. Their whiteness is also a plus. Russians are considered (generally) to be white, but our objection to them having nukes is because of the animosity between our two countries.
