The scariest thing about this post is how obvious it all is. And how few people seem willing to act like it matters.

I spent a lot of time working inside a system and watching how crisis gets normalized. Watching how bad actors weaponize delay while institutions tiptoe around the truth like it might bite them. And this moment feels like the final stage where the illusion doesn’t just crack, it disintegrates.

You said it perfectly. It’s a rerun. Trump is hitting all the same old beats witch hunt, distractions, base triggers and none of it’s working. The story has moved on, but the damage hasn’t. And the system is still pretending it can hold.

The release of the MLK files was meant to be a sideshow. But buried in that noise was a blueprint. Civil disobedience. Reparations. Economic disruption. Dr. King wasn’t dreaming at the end, no, he was planning a national reckoning. And they knew it. That’s why they killed him. That’s why they surveilled him. And that’s why this moment matters.

Because the same system that tried to silence him is now trying to contain Maxwell.

Same playbook. Different decade.

I’ve been writing about this collapse but not with outrage, but with receipts. Quietly. For folks who’ve stopped waiting for institutions to do the right thing and started preparing for what happens when the illusion finally gives way.

"It’s a rerun. Trump is hitting all the same old beats...." I disagree, while this is similar to his previous greatest hits, it is getting crazier than ever. The man posted a fake video of former president Obama being manhandled by the Gestapo (or is it the Stazi?), wrestled to the floor, handcuffed and hauled off. Not only is that insane, it is something you'd expect from a nasty little child in the midst of a frothing tantrum.

I don't look forward to it at all, but I think it is time for the Cabinet to begin discussions of removing Trump from office. Even the stupidest, most craven sycophant can't believe Trump should be president anymore. (And then I think to myself -- "Oh, yes they can.")

I think a nationwide strike is needed, but I'm not going to pretend that such an action wouldn't be just the trigger Trump would need to declare martial law.

Maybe I should have used a different word -- "need" is hardly something Trump requires to act in an illegal and/or unconstitutional manner.

So this might be more accurate:

I think a nationwide strike is needed, but I'm not going to pretend that such an action wouldn't be just the trigger Trump would WANT in order to have an excuse to declare martial law.

Fascists don't "need" reasons; they invent them.

You are so right…American people are the only ones who can stop the madness that is going on. Nothing else is going to work. There are way more of you than them…I’m a Canadian and can’t believe what’s happening to you. Elbows Up!!!

It depends on what you mean by "way more of you than them." There are more Americans who oppose Trump than there are MAGAts, but there are far more disengaged, ill-informed idiots than there are people who oppose Trump and are willing to try to do something about it. I honestly think that is true. Look at polling right now. Trump's approval rating, despite all the fascism, incompetence, cruelty, and criminal behavior (Which are just the tip of the iceberg!) his approval rating is still something like 42%.

However, I'm not sure that the polling sample is representative of the millions of Americans who aren't even registered to vote and aren't paying any attention at all to what Trump is doing. They are why we're in this mess. That and the general irresponsibility of tens of millions of selfish, short-sighted, fickle voters who have virtually no understanding of politics, economics, or any of the issues that are critical in elections. Given that, they put their "trust" in the most incompetent, unfit, and dishonest politician in American political history.

Clear, cogent, challenging. May this post be the clarion call to overthrow the usurping king and restore democracy and sanity to the USA. Canada misses you. We do not like Kraznovia/Trumpistan. We would prefer to be allies, not the enemies trumpler is making us.

"The news just feels crazier than ever."

It is truly unbelievable. I really don't see how any person with even a shred of intelligence, never mind integrity, would believe anything that comes out of this complete nutjob's mouth.

No, Danielle, it is not you. Trump gets loonier with each passnig week. I can't begin to imagine how any mentally healthy person could listen to Trump's Obama traitor story and not say, "What was I thinking? This guy is completely insane. Yeah, I hate Obama, but this newest theory is too crazy even for me."

My best friend's sister is a devout MAGAt, and by my friend's telling, she is reasonably intelligent. So, intelligence and insanity are not remotely the same thing. She may be somewhat intelligent, but she isn't using her intelligence and her support shows that she's nearly as crazy as Trump is. Trump is stupid. We all knew that long ago. And we watched and/or heard his whacko "weaves" at his rallies. But, now, the stuff he's spewing demands involuntary commitment action. If his cabinet weren't what it is -- more corrupt than Bernie Madoff -- they would be meeting secretly to discuss a 25th Amendment move to save this country from someone who is clearly mentally ill or falling so deep into dementia that he shouldn't be trusted with going to the loo alone. If Trump were showering and an attendant told him, "Don't forget to wash behind your ears," I can imagine Trump asking where his ears are and then shoving a bar of soap up his bum. We are in scary territory.

What on earth do the corrupt members of the SCOTUS majority think about what they have done? It is so obvious that Trump is a sick combination of stupidity, depravity, and failing cognition and he should be confined to his bedroom clad in a tight-fitting straitjacket, with a gold ball-gag in his mouth.
