You’re both gifted with Emotional Intelligence that’s rare and not easy to track down these days especially.

Danielle, you articulate difficult feelings in a way that acts as a balm because you’re naming them. I don’t think we’re taught how to do this. But we can learn and that’s why your check ins w Jared are so valued by so many people.

I’ve gone back again to re-reading Viktor Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning” - his experiences in Auschwitz - and the spiritual salvation he found in service of other prisoners surrounding him. And that miraculously, even includes finding humor there, and sharing it w the others.

Everyday’s a humanity test for us: is there one person during the course of my day that I can extend a hand to? Spread some warmth to? Even telling the post office worker that she’s doing a great job.

That mutes the Idiots’ furies for a bit- and transforms all their rage into the trumpety nonsense voices that the adults all have in Charlie Brown cartoons.

Yes, absolutely terrific discussion. This duo can express thoughts and feelings much better than I and I understand more when I listen to them. One thing resonating is that it's ok to let go of preconceived notions of America.

We are moving towards an inflection point for resisters in the regime’s progression. The autocratic degeneration everyday gets worse. The absent opposition from R-klans and passivity among the majority of Americans creates dismay, as voiced by Danielle. It’s the hope that Americans could but don’t rise up that feeds this dismay, because it hasn’t happened in sufficient #, force or consistency. Now the BBB gives financial resources and codifies this authoritarian coup. And the disregard for court orders reflects the strangulation of the Constitution. In a near future we will hear citizens throughout the country and Blue governors openly question, “Why pay federal taxes for this lawlessness, terrorism and police surveillance state?” And then citizens will raise the question of whether staying together as a Republic is feasible? Do we have enough in common - common values, common respect for the Rule of Law, common economic, scientific, educational and political goals to remain United? Or should we entertain secession? These are the conversations which are close to catching spark. If you knew, Danielle, that secession was coming, these actions wouldn’t sting as much. Do the Ukrainians feel anguish when Putin utters a 1001th cruel idiocy about Ukrainian being? No, because they are at war and have transitioned to a war mindset. Mindset is the switch that flips.

Depicting African-American children as alligator bait was a common trope in American popular culture in the 19th and 20th centuries. The motif was present in a wide array of media, including newspaper reports, songs, sheet music, and visual art. The image of black children or infants being used as bait to lure alligators was widespread in white popular culture, often appearing in conjunction with other racist tropes. There is no evidence in reliable primary or secondary sources that children of any race were ever used as bait in alligator hunting, so it is impossible to verify whether or not it was a historical reality. In American slang, alligator bait is a racial slur for African-Americans.

I share your feeling of disorientation. I see the things that I fought for as a young woman being destroyed and have to, every day, tell myself that I have to fight, to listen, to read and to hope. Thank you for your intelligence and clarity.
